Best looks of Met Gala 2016

The Met Gala, or the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, is a festivity that happens every year to raise money for the Costume Institute.

Ever since Vogue’s Anna Wintour took over as chairperson of the gala in 1999, it’s transformed into a massive party. I mean, celebrity power and money is nothing to scoff at.

This year, the theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.

Here’s some of my favourite looks of the night.
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik

Zayn Malik’s gone with Iron Man sleeves, but I was disappointed with Gigi Hadid’s outfit. I thought her arm candy looked better than the dress.

And by arm candy, I mean her nails and knuckle jewellery.

$2000 chrome nails with underlying crystals had better look good.

Zigi’s look: 😐

Gigi’s nails: 😍

Kim Kardashian in Balmain and Kanye West in Fear of God

Kim Kardashian apparently shaded her eyebrows to a light shade of silver instead of her usual dark shades, which explains why her face looks slightly different than normal. And Kanye goes all out in silver-blue contact lenses.

Kim’s look: πŸ‘πŸ»

Kanye’s look: 😊 for the jacket, 😫 for the ripped jeans

Lady Gaga in Atelier Versace

Lady Gaga forgets her pants again, but her jacket is made out of actual motherboards (that thing you find inside CPUs). How’s that for fashion meets technology!

Gaga’s look: 🀐

Cindy Crawford in Balmain

Cindy Crawford seems to have made a dress out of metallic chainmail armour. Balmain’s the one fashion house that I expect to be able to tick the ‘looks futuristic’ box quite well.

Cindy’s look: 😎

Nicole Kidman in Alexander McQueen

While Cindy Crawford took inspiration from chainmail, Nicole Kidman’s taken moonshine and made it into a dress, I think. Bonus points for the cape.

Nicole’s look: 😎😎😎πŸ”₯

Emma Watson in Calvin Klein

Emma Watson’s dress didn’t look very technology-like, till I found out that some of the fabrics are made from plastic bottles. How’s that for recyclable technology!

Emma’s look: 🐒🐳🐬 Animal -friendly (just thinking about the turtles that won’t get stuck in plastic bottles)

Zendaya in Michael Kors

Zendaya proves that fashion recycles itself with a modern Cleopatra look.

Zendaya’s look: πŸ’πŸ»πŸ˜Œ

Hannah Davis in Zuhair Murad

Ahh Zuhair Murad, I can spot your dresses from anywhere.

Hannah’s look: πŸ™ƒ

will-i-am drops the beat with a glamorous tux and some silver sleeves.’s look: ❄️πŸ”₯πŸ”₯❄️

Amber Heard in Ralph Lauren

Amber Heard

Amber Heard doesn’t look very technology-based (which most celebrities seem to interpret as futuristic) but special props go to her for looking like the golden girl (literally!).

Amber’s look: 😱😱😡😍✨

Which was your favourite looks from the Met Gala?

Much Love,
